The Skinny
The BabyHawk Meh Dai is mei tai design similar to a soft structured carrier but without the buckles and other adjustments. This carrier is good for parents of different sizes and is very comfortable to wear, even for longer adventures. It is machine washable, easy to transport, and works for children up to 40 lbs. Unfortunately, the BabyHawk is harder to use because you need to hold baby as you put the carrier on and make your tying adjustments. This can be difficult in the front carry position and so hard in the back carry that you may need help. While we like several things about this carrier, it failed to perform as well as the competition, even at the below average price.
Our Analysis and Test Results
BabyHawk was started by a mother with a need for a great hands-free carrier to help her take care of her special needs children. The carriers on the market failed to offer what she was looking for at a price she could afford. As a result, Robyn bought some twill and made her own, and Meh Dai was born. After receiving so many compliments, she decided to sell her first one on eBay, and they began selling quickly. The BabyHawk company is now partners with Moby who make Moby Wraps.
The Babyhawk Meh Dai is comfortable to wear for as long as the adventure lasts.

Baby's Comfort
The BabyHawk earned a 6 of 10 for baby's comfort. Several of our little testers fell asleep while using this carrier, so we assume they were at least content. The fabric is supportive and allows for the natural curve of little one's backs when in the rear facing position. Unfortunately, the fabric isn't as soft as the Infantino Sash and the head support could be larger for taller babies.

Parent's Comfort
The BabyHawk earned an 8 of 10 for parent comfort. Only three of the other products in this review were more comfortable than the BabyHawk. This carrier has wide padded shoulder straps and a nice supportive belt. No matter what your size the majority of the strap is comfortable for supporting baby's weight. Baby's weight distributes evenly in this carrier and testers feel they could wear it for longer than similar options without discomfort. Unlike the Infantino Sash the straps on the BabyHawk do not rub the neck of the wearer or place undue pressure on the neck shoulder transition area.
Ease of Use
The BabyHawk earned a 5 of 10 for ease of use. While it has no buckles or adjustment to make which means it is somewhat intuitive and more adjustable than the soft structured carriers, you have to put it on while holding baby which can be difficult. This process becomes even more difficult when you try to use the back carry position because you need to be really flexible or have help. The manual can help you figure out the strap wrapping with good descriptions and pictures.
The Babyhawk can be machine wash cold and requires hanging to dry.

Ease of Cleaning
The BabyHawk earned a 5 of 10 for ease of cleaning. This carrier is machine wash on cold and hangs to dry. Most of the carrier will dry quickly, but the padded straps and supported headrest will take longer which means you could be without your carrier for a couple of days. It is also not the easiest to spot clean thanks to the fabric type and the longer drying time.
