The GroVia O.N.E. comes with one small and one large soaker, which can snap together or be used individually, depending on your absorbency needs.

The inserts are 100% cotton topped with polyester microfleece, and the diaper's interior uses microfleece, which is soft and acts as a wicking agent to keep your little one dry. The diaper's cover is 100% water-resistant polyester TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) on the outside, and a layer of polyester microfiber is sewn into the cover.

We love that the two liners snap into place, unlike many in our review, keeping them in place so you don't have to worry about traveling inserts. The placement of the snaps makes it very intuitive to put this diaper together, andimpossible to do it wrong. This failsafe ensures that you will never put the wrong side of the insert against the baby's bum, even if you are changing in the dark.

The diaper offers three rise levels and a single row of waist snaps. A hook and loop closure system is included, which snaps on and off the diaper, allowing the O.N.E. to become a Velcro option at no additional cost. Velcro can be easier to use and offers infinite fit adjustments. We think this versatility is appealing, especially if you're sharing diaper duty with another who prefers one closure system over the other. When the Velcro wears out (a common problem with hook and loop), you can switch to snaps or buy a replacement set.

Absorbency

Compared to others, the GroVia O.N.E. cloth diaper doesn't stand out for absorbency. With a performance lower than expected, so is its absorbency score.

It's common practice to prepare cloth diapers before use, and we test the competition once they are prepped following their manufacturer's recommendations. GroVia says you must launder the diaper before it's ready to go, once for daytime use and 3-5 times if you use it as a night diaper.

The GroVia O.N.E. had below-par absorbency results. During testing, most of the mock urine was never absorbed into the top of the liner but escaped to the shell before being absorbed from the bottom. Some lingering moisture beaded on the liner, and even after compressing it with weights, it still never soaked in. Since the liner never really absorbed any liquid, the filter paper looks good.

Dislikes

The GroVia advertises the O.N.E. as an all-in-one diaper; however, there's a little more to it. The diaper cannot be used without the snap-in soakers, making it more of a mix between an AIO and an all-in-two (AO2). It does take two steps to get it ready for a baby, but the inserts are still attached to the cover during use.

The O.N.E. was one of the bulkiest diapers in the cloth diaper competition, which may impact clothing choices. We found that dresses or loose clothing worked best while using this diaper. The bulkiness also means a longer dry time, but the inserts can be machine dried, so it is not as big of a deal.

If you're using the hook and loop tabs, you must detach them before laundering. While this is simple, remembering to remove them can be easily forgotten.

Should You Buy the GroVia O.N.E.?

GroVia O.N.E. is a quality diaper with the potential to last throughout the diapering years until potty training. We appreciate that it can convert into a Velcro diaper, which may help ease those switching from disposable diapers to the world of cloth, or if you need a more precise fit at the waist. However, its lackluster performance in our absorption tests was a letdown. With other contenders that cost the same yet perform better, we think you won't miss much if you pass on this option.

What Other Cloth Diaper Should You Consider?
