Astrid Haring (harpist): The Mirror. Astrid attended the Royal Academy in The Hague where she graduated as a Master summa cum laude in 2009. With this examination she won the Fock medal, a price for the best examination master of the study year. During her studies, Astrid played with the Residentie Orchestra and the Ligeti Academy, organised by the ASKO Schonberg ensemble. She also participated in masterclasses with Edward Witsenburg, Isabelle Moretti, Isabelle Perrin, Brigitte Sylvestre, Hugh Webb, and Daphne and Park Stickney. In September 2008 Astrid worked on `15 minute universe’ in collaboration with choreographer David Middendorp. This multidisciplinary show included live music, dance and co-ordination technique has been performed at various festivals including those at the Korzo Theatre in The Hague, Schiedam and at the prestigious Festival Lowlands.
Since 2008, Astrid has performed in a duo with bass trombonist Brandt Attema. In July 2008 they played the world premieres of works by Martijn Padding and Chiel Meijering at the 10th the World harp congress in Amsterdam. Together, they have played many international festivals in locations such as Brazil, Denmark and Sweden. Astrid has also worked with singer Caroline Cartens with whom she aims to create works bridging contemporary music and poetry.
